Michael Larkin
PARTNER
About Michael
Michael Larkin has over 30 years of finance experience predominantly in real estate, infrastructure and funds management. Prior to OBH Partners Michael was the CFO/CEO of Babcock & Brown (B&B). Michael commenced his career at PwC moving to Lendlease Corporation in 1997 in a variety of finance roles. Michael’s experience covers all facets of finance in public markets from operational roles, strategy, taxation, fund management and development, business development and debt and equity capital markets.
As a consequence of B&B’s circumstances, following the global financial crisis, Michael established, in collaboration with the debt holders of B&B, a unique holding structure outside of Babcock & Brown Limited to warehouse, manage and sell for value the assets of the B&B Group. The assets included real assets (predominantly real estate, infrastructure and operating businesses) and public and private investment funds in more than 20 countries. The structure under which the B&B assets were warehoused uniquely addressed the rights of all stakeholders in all jurisdictions enabling the assets to be sold for market value. The assets under management warehoused in the structure were in excess of $5 billion.
